The role of Ukrainian universities in the development of the global information society

This paper presents an observation of the positive experience obtained by Kharkov State Technical University in the area of education specialists for the development of an information society programme. Economic problems postponed the beginning of the information society programme in Ukraine. Nevertheless, Ukraine now has good possibilities to apply the best experience of western universities and speed up the process of transferring existing education to the European level.
